A New Season at PYD: PYD’s Fall Programs Are Here!

Fall has finally arrived, bringing with it pumpkin spice lattes, crunchy leaves, and an array of opportunities for the incredible youth we support! We’re diving into the upcoming months with programs designed for learning and personal growth. Picture this: our year-round Mentoring Program, like a trusty compass guiding our youth through life’s adventures. Our Career Readiness Program, a roadmap to help youth kickstart their dreams and ambitions. And, of course, our Access to Arts program, where they can unleash their creativity. As the leaves change, so do we–nurturing dreams and harvesting possibilities. Let’s make this a season to remember!

Growing with the Mentoring Program

Our Mentoring Program recently celebrated a special event: Match Game Night! Mentor and mentee pairs came together to play board games, socialize, and connect. If you’d like to join our Mentoring Program as a mentor or mentee, you can sign up here.

Empowering through Career Readiness

Our Career Readiness Program is an important part of the work we do to prepare youth with disabilities for success in the workplace. We’re proud to offer this program in several Boston Public Schools classrooms–and even beyond with workshops, job shadows, and career exploration!

Our Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) programming also begins this month! Join us at the PYD office on September 26th for a workshop in identifying your personal strengths. The workshop will take place from 4:30-6:00 pm.

Explore your Creativity with Access to Arts

Starting in October, participants can explore visual arts through our Access to Arts (ATA) Program, formerly known as Access to Theater. There will be two ATA Programs running this fall:

  1. ATA Visual Arts Workshops in drawing, painting, and sculpture will take place at the NonProfit Center in Boston (89 South Street). We will meet from 4-6pm on October 16th, 23rd, and 30th and November 6th, 13th, and 20th
  2. ATA Community Mosaic Project. We will be creating a mosaic installation at Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge (1575 Cambridge St). We will meet from 4-6pm from October 17th to November 28th (No workshops on Halloween or the week of Thanksgiving)

Please fill out the youth application or email sbobbette@pyd.org to sign up!

Supporting PYD’s Vision

We are able to offer these programs free of charge to youth with disabilities because of help from friends like you. Your support will allow us to not only continue to offer these programs to our participants at no cost to them and their families but also give us the opportunity to hire youth with disabilities as fellows and give them an opportunity to earn money.

Consider making a donation to support our program development throughout the remainder of 2023 and beyond! Even better, sign up to become a recurring donor. Donors who sign up for a monthly donation of $10 or more per month by September 30th, 2023 will be entered in a raffle to win a 65” TV!
