Spotlight on CVS Health, Party for PYD Honoree

Over the years, CVS Health has built an amazing partnership with Partners for Youth with Disabilities. The company dedicates its time to support the employment of youth with disabilities; and because of this, we are excited to honor CVS Health at the Party for PYD on May 8th!

“It’s wonderful for us to be recognized [this way],” says Rick Laferriere, Senior Manager of Workforce Initiatives for CVS Health. “From the company’s perspective, it is a true honor for us. Personally, for myself and the Workforce Initiatives team here locally, a lot of pride goes into our work. It’s immensely powerful and we are thrilled [to be recognized by PYD.]” Check out this video interview with Rick!

Earlier this spring, PYD had the honor of visiting the CVS Health Learning Center for a PYD intern orientation. “The Workforce Initiatives team is a unique group of individuals from across the country. We partner with community-based organizations that provide employment services to the communities they serve,” he says. “We build a pipeline of talent from those communities by way of programming, and by way of working with members of the communities to provide them with the information that helps them understand our jobs.”

Laferriere believes that career-readiness trainings make a difference in showing young people how they can overcome career barriers in order to become a successful professional. Laferriere and his team are passionate about providing opportunities through hands-on trainings at the CVS Health Learning Center.

“Our partnership with PYD is very important. Especially in the Greater Boston area, it’s a great community that supports the employment of people with disabilities of all ages. PYD is one of our great partners that can help get the work done.” Laferriere said his favorite part about working with PYD is seeing young people have the opportunity to explore careers in retail, where they can grow from entry-level positions and someday become a store manager or district manager.

All of us hope to see you at the Party for PYD on May 8th to join us in celebrating CVS Health!
