Team PYD and the Rodman Ride for Kids

We invite you to join Partners for Youth with Disabilities and the Rodman Ride for Kids as we strive to continue serving youth in Greater Boston community. Please consider supporting Team PYD as we bike 25 miles to raise awareness and funds for PYD in the 23rd annual Rodman Ride for Kids in Foxborough, MA.

The Ride for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity for social service agencies that support at-risk children in Massachusetts. The Ride serves as a catalyst by providing over 48 agencies an opportunity to raise funds through this event. PYD’s opportunity to participate in the Rodman Ride is thanks to Mass Mentoring Partnership, the state’s umbrella organization for youth mentorship.

For the fifth consecutive year, Team PYD is led by Juan Botero, a mentor through PYD’s Mentor Match program since 2009. Juan was diagnosed as an adult with Ataxia, which affects gross motor coordination. Not willing to let his disability slow him down, Juan uses adaptive equipment such as his recumbent bike, the Greenspeed Tadpole, for cycling training and racing. By using specially designed equipment, staying in shape, and harnessing his determination, Juan has been able to climb to Mt. Kilimanjaro’s summit and the bottom of the Grand Canyon. His goal is to climb Everest, and to inspire kids with disabilities to dream big.
