New PYD Program: Young Leaders Rising

Partners for Youth with Disabilities is pleased to announce the launch of a new program, Young Leaders Rising (YLR), which will kick off the week of July 12th, 2021. YLR is a 12-week youth leadership program for high school students, ages 14-22, with any type of disability. The program will leverage both live virtual workshops and an online learning community to empower youth to develop leadership and career readiness skills. YLR participants will be better prepared for future employment, higher education and independent living.

The Young Leaders Rising Program is being designed and delivered in collaboration with fellows – young adults who identify as having a disability and have previous leadership experience. The fellows are supporting the recruitment and intake of participants, program development/planning and will be co-facilitating programming.

Over the course of the 12-week summer program, YLR activities and events will include an emphasis on employment and career readiness skills. Activities and events will include a range of career preparation and employment-oriented activities, including job searching, networking, interview skills, setting career goals, and accessing available resources.

Social and recreational opportunities to build relationships with peers along with ample opportunities to interact with fellows, presenters, and disability advocates will provide a comprehensive and transformative experience to participants.

If you know of a young person who may be interested in this opportunity, please share the link for them to apply today.
