Equip, Empower, Employ: Inside Party4PYD’s 2024 Trifecta!

On May 15th, we came together for our annual fundraiser, Party4PYD, a celebration of unity and empowerment. With the support of local businesses, participants, families, and our community, we advance our mission to empower young people with disabilities to reach their full potential and become active, confident members of their communities. Highlighting the evening, we proudly honored GEICO and our remarkable youth participant, Nataly Barreto, for their outstanding contributions.

Dynamic Hosts, Tere Ramos and Sarah Verneret

Guiding us through the evening were the dynamic duo of Executive Director, Tere Ramos, and PYD Intern, Sarah Verneret. Notably, Sarah, also a PYD participant, brought her unique perspective to the role, embodying the spirit of empowerment and growth that defines our community.

Reflecting on her experience as co-host, Sarah shared, “I was excited to be the co-host. It was something different, and I liked talking in front of people, it was a new experience.  This experience helped me grow, because now I am less nervous in front of people.” We are immensely proud to witness Sarah’s newfound confidence and applaud her for seizing opportunities to expand her skills!

Our Honorees

Mr. D for a Difference Award: Nataly Barreto

The Mr. D for a Difference Award was presented to Nataly Barreto, a current youth participant. Nataly participates in our Access to Arts and Youth Leadership programming. This award, bestowed in honor and memory of PYD’s beloved staff member Darryl Sanchez, recognizes a youth who embodies Darryl’s spirit of making a positive impact within our community.

Oz Mondejar Innovation Award: GEICO

The Oz Mondejar Innovation Award was presented to GEICO for providing creative solutions for increasing educational and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Social Impact & Philanthropy Manager, Mac Stephen, accepted the award on behalf of GEICO. During his speech, Mac said, “GEICO is proud to have joined forces with PYD to support in the areas of developing leaders and provide resources so students with disabilities can continue their education. Together we are making a positive difference that we all should be proud of.” We are grateful for our partnership with GEICO!

Career Readiness Spotlight

This year’s Party4PYD highlighted our Career Readiness program! PYD’s Career Readiness Program is an inclusive job-readiness program that addresses barriers to employment for young adults with disabilities. This program has existed for over 25 years and impacts the lives of over 200 youth annually.

Our Career Readiness Program addresses barriers to employment via a three-tiered curriculum involving academic learning, real-world experiences, and mentoring.

The Career Readiness curriculum is in over 20 schools within the Greater Boston Area. Additional CR opportunities are also available, which consist of workshops, job shadows, internships and career exploration activities.

Silent Auction and Fund the Mission

We’re filled with gratitude for the remarkable success of our silent auction, featuring an array of unique items and experiences generously donated. From exclusive getaways to coveted memorabilia, every bid cast played a vital role in supporting PYD.

Director of Youth Programs, Becca Cronin, and Career Readiness Manager, Rachel Rubin, ignited the excitement during our Fund the Mission session, raising over $7,000 in a few minutes! Guests eagerly donated to support our Career Readiness initiatives, empowering young individuals through classes, real experiences, and internships. With each contribution, they fueled our mission to equip, empower, and employ our youth.

Show Your Support Beyond Party4PYD

We are able to offer programs free of charge to youth with disabilities because of help from friends like you. Your support will allow us to continue to offer these programs to our participants at no cost to them and their families. Please consider making a donation.
