Everything you need to know about Mentor Appreciation Night ’18

PYD was founded in 1985, meaning that this year’s Mentor Appreciation Night on November 2nd will mark three decades for PYD. Wow!

In honor of our three decades of service, M.A.N will be 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s themed, and we’d love it if you email us your favorite songs from each to play throughout the party!

Throwing it back to some matches and our programs through the years:

1980’s- Julie and Martha, one of PYD’s first matches ever.

1990’s-  In 1995, PYD collaborated with the Boston Public Schools to establish the Young Entrepreneurs Project.

2000’s- Larry “Doc” Warnock, was named a PYD ‘Mentor of the Year’ back in the late 00’s. He recently passed away on August 8, 2018. He was a remarkable man who dedicated 11 years mentoring A.J and many other youth. He is dearly missed by everyone at PYD.

You’re probably wondering what else is in store for this year’s M.A.N, and we’re here to fill you in. When you first walk in the door, there’s going to be a complementary raffle! You could win passes to Legoland, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art, New England Aquarium, the Sports Museum, or a tie from the Big Cork Vineyard. These all make for fun mentor-mentee activities.

Next, we’ll have dinner from 6:00pm to 6:45pm, provided by Haley House and Costco. This gives the chance for everyone to mingle and get settled. Our ceremony will start at 6:45 with opening remarks from Regina Snowden and Kristin Humphrey, and then we will move on to our awards. Five Awards will be given out: our honorary Spirit, Leadership, Lens Partnership, Career-Readiness, and Mentor of the Year awards.

Last but not least, from 7:30pm to 8:00pm, it’ll be time to dance! This is when your song requests can be played, and we can all relax and unwind.

We would be honored to have you at Mentor Appreciation Night 2018. Make sure to RSVP here at your earliest convenience. Hope to see you all there!

Parking: Please be advised that there is limited parking on site, consisting of one parking lot and some street parking in Cambridge. But, the good news is that it’s a two minute walk from the Central Square T stop on the red line.
