The holiday season is fast approaching and for many nonprofits around the country, it marks an exciting time. Giving Tuesday, often referred to as #GivingTuesday, is a movement that promotes charitable donations to nonprofit organizations. This seasonal campaign is a great way for donors to start off the giving season.

On December 3rd, Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD) will launch their 2019 Giving Tuesday campaign. This year, PYD hopes to raise monetary funds to support its award-winning Mentor Match program, career-readiness trainings, inclusion services, Access to Theatre program, and many more community efforts.  PYD is accepting charitable donations in honor of Giving Tuesday from now until December 3rd, and will continue to accept donations following Giving Tuesday for their annual appeal.

Giving Tuesday was created back in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation. Designated to the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday was created to encourage individuals, businesses, organizations, and schools to give back to their local communities. Through media coverage and the involvement of large companies, the creators of this seasonal campaign received a lot of positive feedback. Since then, Giving Tuesday has become an annual event to promote the American tradition of giving.

“We are so grateful for all of our donors who move us toward our mission of creating a world where young people with disabilities will be able to live with dignity, pride, and purpose. We hope to impact the lives of more youth through the generosity of our donors,” said PYD’s Development Manager, Joanna Dumas.

Since its founding in 1985, PYD’s goal has been to create a world where young people with disabilities can live with dignity and pride in who they are. To set out for another successful year of outreach, trainings, and programs at PYD , we invite you to #GiveBackToPYD and help reach our goal of $25,000.

Through our programs, 38% of PYD participants were employed in 2019, compared to the previous year’s 30% employment rate, and 78% of participants expressed that participating in PYD events and trainings helped them set goals for their future.

What may seem like a small gesture to you, can make a big difference. We encourage you to give back this holiday season and make a lasting impact on our youth.
