MERL Newsletter Features PYD Peer Leader Tayla

Over the summer, one of our youth participants — Tayla — was lucky enough to be chosen as an intern at the Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories.

Tayla has participated in MHC and ATT, and will be a peer leader for MHC this year. She was featured in the most recent newsletter of the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation.

Check out the article below to read about her takeaways from the experience!

Here’s the text version of Tayla’s thoughts:

I have developed many new skills that will help me in future education and jobs. My organizational skills, as well as multi-tasking and completeing project on time are areas that have always been a challenge for me as a student with learning disabilities… [with] the feedback and assistance I have received from them I feel I am stronger and extremely more confident in myself, which enables me to do better in my job responsibilities. It is a constant struggle for me as a student with learning disabilities to find opportunities after graduating from high school. [MERL] has given me something that will last a lifetime: they have given me the confidence to not give up and continue to stride towards my goals to become a professional, and contributing member of society.

Congratulations to Tayla on a job well done!
