On Friday, May 24, PYD’s National Center kicked off a summer-long disability inclusion training and technical assistance contract with the nonprofit Future Chefs.
Future Chef’s mission is to prepare urban youth in Greater Boston for quality early employment and post-secondary education opportunities in the culinary field and support them in developing a broad base of transferable skills as they transition into the working world.
Having originally heard about us from a training provided to Liberty Mutual Foundation grantees, Future Chefs approached us with the hope of undergoing a thorough, customized training process with the end goal of becoming more equipped and deliberate with regard to disability inclusion.
The trainings will include topics such as: etiquette and communication; signs and tips for responding to specific disabilities; Universal Design for Learning and catering to diverse learning styles; Inclusive outreach and intake processes; and transitioning for post-secondary success.
